CareSource Changes Transportation Vendor
CareSource has a new transportation provider. TMS is the name of the new provider. They started providing transportation on April 1, 2011.
You can get rides to medically necessary health care visits when they are covered by the plan. CareSource can also provide mileage reimbursement for medically necessary health care services when you arrange for these services before the visit.
You can also get same-day rides for hospital discharges. Members will need to use the same process to ask for this service.
It’s easy to arrange for a ride. Just call CareSource Member Services at 1-800-390-7102 (TTY: 1-800-649-3777 or 711). Choose the menu option for member, then transportation.
Please call at least five days ahead of your doctor’s visit to set up a ride.

Has your child had a check-up lately?
Your child needs regular check-ups with his or her doctor to stay well. This is important even if your child isn't sick. The doctor will check to make sure your child is growing and doing the right things for his or her age. Your doctor may give your child important immunizations at this visit. The doctor might also do a lead screening test. Please call today and make an appointment for a well-child checkup.

Stay Healthy with Annual Exams
Regular medical checkups are the best way to stay healthy. They can help prevent serious illnesses and diseases.
You should visit your primary care doctor once a year for a checkup, even if you don’t feel sick. Children under age 2 need to go more often since babies grow so fast. The checkup is called a Healthchek exam for children from birth through age 20. Even after age 20, adults still need to keep getting an annual checkup. Call your doctor to schedule a checkup today.

Do you know an uninsured child?
Ohio is trying to connect kids to health care coverage. Many are eligible for Medicaid but have not enrolled. Uninsured children miss more school and are more likely to go without basic medical care or prescribed medicine.
Do you know a child who does not have health insurance? If so, talk to their parent or guardian. Tell them to contact one of the following:
- The Medicaid Consumer Hotline at 1-800-324-8680.
- The Ohio Benefit Bank at 1-800-648-1176.
- Their local county Department of Job and Family Services.

Please perform EPSDT exams
EPSDT or well-child exams for children under the age of 21 are very important. These exams can be performed at the time of an acute-care visit if indicated. An important component of the EPSDT exam is ensuring that your patients are up-to-date with their immunizations and lead screening. Please take every opportunity to perform an EPSDT exam.
