Where to get Care

We want to make sure your child gets the right care from the right health care provider when they need it. The following will help you decide where your child should go for medical care. To get more details, please see the CBI Member Handbook.

Primary care

Your child should see their PCP for all routine visits. Some examples of conditions that can be treated by your child's PCP are:

  • Colds/flu
  • Earache
  • Backache
  • Rash
  • Sore throat
  • Removal of stitches
  • Headache
  • Pain management

Urgent care

Your child can visit an urgent care center for non-emergency situations to keep an injury or illness from getting worse. Your child can go when their PCP's office is closed or if the PCP is not able to see your child right away.

If you think your child needs to go to an urgent care center, you can:

  • Call your child's PCP and ask. You can call your child's PCP, or a back-up doctor, at any time
  • Call CareSource 24 our toll-free, 24-hour nurse advice line at 1-866-206-0554
  • Go to a participating urgent care center listed in CarsSource's online Provider Directory.

After you go, always call your PCP to schedule follow-up care.
