Your Primary Care
Each member of CareSource has a Primary Care Provider (PCP). Your child's PCP is an individual doctor or physician group practice trained in family medicine (general practice), internal medicine or pediatrics. He or she will:
- Work with you to direct your child's health care
- Provide checkups and shots
- Treat your child for most of their health needs
- Send your child to a specialist, if needed
- Admit your child to the hospital
Your child may be a new patient to the PCP. If so, call to schedule a visit for your child. This will help your PCP get to know your child's health needs right away. You should have your child go within 90 days of joining CareSource.
Please keep all appointments you make for your child. If you need to cancel or change times, call your child's doctor. You should call at least 24 hours in advance.
Your PCP helps your child get preventive care. Make regular visits to your child's PCP. You should do this even if your child does not feel sick. Routine checkups can help your PCP find problems early. Then they can be treated before they get worse.
Preventive care includes:
- Regular checkups
- Immunizations for children
- Tests and screenings, when needed
