CareSource Employees Choose Blue Star Mothers for $10,000 Grant
DAYTON, Ohio, November 9, 2011 – The CareSource Foundation, part of CareSource, a non-profit, public-sector managed care company, recently announced Blue Star Mothers of America was the recipient of a $10,000 grant through CareSource Foundation’s People’s Choice Grants program. Each quarter, the Foundation contributes $10,000 to one nonprofit organization that is nominated and voted on by CareSource employees.
Blue Star Mothers provides support for active duty service personnel, promotes patriotism, and assists veteran organizations. The grant will be used for international efforts to support active military and their families.
“We are honored to have the support of the CareSource community”, states Ohio President Pat Pell. “We know firsthand the sacrifices that men and women and their families make for the freedom that we enjoy every day.”
“Our employees continue to amaze me with their generosity and support for our mission,” says Cathy Ponitz, executive director of the CareSource Foundation. “The People’s Choice grants give employees an opportunity to really get involved. Blue Star Mothers of America is a great organization that does meaningful work to support veterans.”
The Foundation also gave the other two finalists – Heaven’s Corner Animal Sanctuary, a local exotic animal rescue and zoo; and Owen’s Place, an accessible playground for adults and kids with disabilities - a $2,500 grant.
The CareSource Foundation invests in nonprofit organizations that focus on critical trends in children's health, community health issues, special needs populations and strategies to address the medically uninsured throughout Ohio and Michigan.
