CareSource Employees Choose Life Essentials as Recipient for $10,000 Grant

DAYTON, Ohio, December 17, 2010 – The CareSource Foundation, part of CareSource, a non-profit, public-sector managed care company, recently announced Life Essentials of Dayton is the recipient of a $10,000 grant through CareSource Foundation’s People’s Choice Grants program. Each quarter, the Foundation contributes $10,000 to one nonprofit organization that is nominated and voted on by CareSource employees

Life Essentials helps people who slip through gaps in community services. Through a dedicated network of volunteers, they provide over 25,000 hours of service each year to people in the greater Dayton area. The $10,000 grant will help provide independent, safe and secure living for the elderly and people who suffer with behavioral health issues. It will also supplement programs that help relieve isolation and support socialization for these special populations. The check will be presented by the nominating employees at CareSource.

“Our employees are very connected to critical issues of these most vulnerable populations,” says Cathy Ponitz, executive director of the CareSource Foundation. “The People’s Choice grants give them an opportunity to have a significant voice in how we direct our Foundation contributions. Life Essentials is an outstanding recipient.”

The Foundation will also give the other two finalists - CAMP rural food pantry and Project Impact urban youth program— each a $2,500 grant

The CareSource Foundation invests in nonprofit organizations that focus on critical trends in children's health, community health issues, special needs populations and strategies to address the medically uninsured throughout Ohio and Michigan.
