National Provider Identifier (NPI)
The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requires that all providers obtain the National Provider Identifier (NPI). MDCH requires that all providers obtain an NPI for paper and electronic claims.
More information on the NPI can be found on the CMS website. Providers can apply for an NPI online at nppes.cms.hhs.gov.
