No co-payments

CareSource covers all services required by Michigan Medicaid. You can receive any necessary medical service. You will not be charged a co-payment for any service, not even prescriptions covered by CareSource.

If your doctor bills you for treatment, please call Member Services at 1-800-390-7102 (TTY for hearing impaired: 1-800-649-3777 or 711).

CareSource also offers Additional Services and other benefits. Our nurses can answer your health questions 24 hours a day or you can get a free ride to your doctor's visit.

Some Services Outside CareSource, or not provided by CareSource, may be available from Michigan Medicaid or another agency.

Services Not Covered at all are listed below.

Services outside CareSource

CareSource does not pay for some services. But you can still get them through Michigan Medicaid or another agency.

These services are:

  • Dental care - Call Member Services.
  • Custodial long-term care in a nursing facility - Call Member Services.
  • Certain anti-psychotic and anti-retroviral drugs - Call Member Services.
  • WIC services - This is a food and nutrition program for women, infants and children. Call your local health department for help.
  • Services for people with developmental disabilities - Call your local community mental health agency.
  • Drug and alcohol abuse services - Drug and alcohol abuse is a disease. Call your local substance abuse coordinating agency if you need help. Some signs of abuse are:
    • Using drugs or alcohol to get rid of stress, fear or shyness
    • Money problems because of drug or alcohol abuse
    • Lying or making excuses about the use of drugs or alcohol
    • Missing school or work because of drug or alcohol use

Services not covered

CareSource does not cover the following services:

  • All services or supplies deemed not medically necessary by the state Medical Services Administration, CareSource or your PCP
  • Any services not prior authorized by CareSource or your PCP when CareSource or Michigan Medicaid guidelines require it
  • Services or items used only for cosmetic purposes
  • Services that are experimental or for research
  • Items for personal cleanliness and grooming
  • Abortions except in the case of rape, incest or when medically necessary to save the life of the mother
  • Sex change operations
  • Infertility services, including reversal of sterilization procedures
  • Anything usually given free of charge
  • Acupuncture
