Dental care is an important part of your overall health. That’s why we encourage you to schedule regular dental visits. It is never too late to start seeing a dentist.

Dental Coverage – Medicaid

HAP CareSource members now have dental benefits through Medicaid. These new dental benefits are available to you because you are covered by Medicaid, or Children’s Special Health Care Services. Medicaid members over the age of 21 now have dental benefits.

Here are some of the services covered:

  • X rays
  • Teeth cleanings
  • Deep teeth cleanings
  • Sealants – once every three years
  • Root canals
  • Crowns – once every five years per tooth
  • Care to keep your gums healthy (periodontal care) Also covered is scaling when gums are inflamed and root planing
  • Cavity filings
  • Extractions (pulling teeth)
  • Dentures

Medicaid children under the age of 21 will continue to have dental benefits through state’s Healthy Kids Dental program. If you have more questions, please call Delta Dental Customer Service at 1-866-327-0568.

Dental Coverage – Healthy Michigan Plan

Dental care is an import part of your overall health. That’s why we encourage you to schedule regular dental visits. It is never too late to start seeing a dentist.

HAP CareSource Healthy Michigan Plan members age 19-65 have access to free dental care. This includes dental exams, cleanings, and removals.

  • Routine exams and cleanings every six months
  • Full-mouth X-rays once every five years
  • Fillings
  • Emergency exams

These services are also free for pregnant women who are members of HAP CareSource Medicaid.

Other covered procedures include:

  • Crowns (only covered up to age 21)
  • Root canals
  • Tooth removals (removal of asymptomatic 3rd molars are not covered)
  • Bridge or partial repair
  • Bitewings are covered once every year
