CareSource has announced the renewal of their partnership with Children’s Hunger Alliance (CHA) in support of CHA’s Weekend Meals program. Recent funding from CareSource will allow CHA to expand the Weekend Meals program to additional early childcare and Head Start centers throughout Ohio.

“CareSource is pleased to partner with Children’s Hunger Alliance to help fund the expansion of the Weekend Meals distribution program,” said Steve Ringel, CareSource Ohio Market President. “By working together, we will be able to improve access to meals for children when school meals are not available. Our partnership with Children’s Hunger Alliance enables many young Ohioans to have a consistent supply of nutritious food as part of their diet.”

Weekend Meals boxes consist of two breakfasts and three lunches/dinners, with each package consisting of a complete meal that meets USDA nutritional requirements.  This ongoing partnership between CareSource and Children’s Hunger Alliance will ensure that children in the care of participating early childcare and Head Start centers have nutritious meals beyond Monday to Friday. Reliable access to food has been proven to have has a positive impact on the physical, mental and emotional health of young children.

“Children’s Hunger Alliance is so grateful to have a partner like CareSource, who recognized the need to feed more children and was willing to come along side us in this fight against childhood hunger,” said Judy Mobley, Children’s Hunger Alliance President and CEO.

CareSource has been a longstanding supporter of CHA collaborating on projects such as meal distributions during the pandemic and nutritious meal training programs and execution of the Eat, Play, Grow curriculum in childcare centers.
