CareSource partnered with Hocking Athens Perry Community Action (HAPCAP) to provide kitchen kits for holiday meal preparation. Residents of seven southeast Ohio counties received boxes including fresh produce and other cooking essentials. In total, more than a thousand families benefited from the holiday mobile market program.

“We work every day to improve the lives of our members and are especially grateful for the opportunity to provide holiday meals with HAPCAP,” said Deirdra Yocum, VP of Market Operations for CareSource Ohio.

Volunteers from Tri-County Career Center and Ohio University met to assemble hundreds of kitchen kits to distribute at the holiday mobile markets.

"This time of the year is difficult financially for many people, but in particular those living on a low-income," shared Kelly Hatas, HAPCAP's Executive Director.  "We want everyone to have the opportunity to celebrate the holidays with their loved ones and are grateful to CareSource for supporting this initiative, which is certain to bring some good cheer to many in need across the region."

Additional partners include Washington-Morgan Community Action Agency, Ironton-Lawrence Community Action Agency, Gallia-Meigs Community Action Agency, Jackson-Vinton Community Action Agency, Athens and Logan Head Start, Rural & Urban Scholars Pathways (RUSP) Program with the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine at Ohio University and Food and Hospitality Support Services students from Tri-County Career Center.

In order to build healthy and strong communities, HAPCAP for Health bridges the gap to ensure better health outcomes, equity and literacy within a ten-county service area. HAPCAP has a commitment to bettering the lives of its service-area residents. Programming is made possible with funding from CareSource.
