DAYTON, Ohio (CareSource) - Earlier this month, Dayton Children’s Hospital announced that they have officially broken ground on a new urgent care facility in West Dayton, to provide on-demand, conveniently located pediatric care. The groundbreaking also celebrated a $1.5 million-dollar donation from CareSource that will support both the urgent care and broader initiatives to serve the families of West Dayton.

“We are deeply grateful to CareSource for their generous support of our efforts to bring high-quality, accessible care closer to families in West Dayton,” said Debbie Feldman, president and CEO of Dayton Children’s Hospital. “This $1.5 million investment helps turn a community-driven plan into a real, lasting solution that meets families where they are. Together, we are building more than just a new urgent care—we are building trust, opportunity and a healthier future for the children who call West Dayton home.”

Located at 1711 Germantown Street, the Dayton Children’s West Dayton urgent care will offer extended hours and walk-in appointments for non-emergent injuries and illnesses requiring same-day medical attention. The new pediatric facility is expected to open in the summer of 2026.

“CareSource has had the honor of supporting Dayton Children’s Hospital for many years, recognizing the significant impact they have on the well-being of their patients and the communities they serve,” said Scott Markovich, executive vice president, markets and products at CareSource. “We are proud to contribute to the construction of the new urgent care building, which will enhance access to quality care for West Dayton families. We look forward to the positive outcomes this facility will provide for future generations.”

West Dayton has historically struggled with inadequate access to health care services. Recognizing this challenge, Dayton Children’s Hospital actively engaged with community members to gather insights and understand their specific needs. Through a series of conversations and feedback sessions, the hospital identified a need for on-demand, non-emergent pediatric care. This community-focused approach not only bridges the existing gap in care but also fosters trust and collaboration between the hospital and the families it serves.

“We applaud Dayton Children’s Hospital for taking the time to have conversations with West End residents and listening to what they had to say,” added Markovich. “The communities spoke, and Dayton Children’s listened. Their commitment to understanding the needs of the community is truly commendable. The new facility is not just about bricks and mortar; it’s about creating a space where families can access the services they need most.”
