CareSource Indiana Market President Steve Smitherman has been named in the inaugural class of the IBJ Indiana Top 250—a list of the most influential business leaders making an impact on the state of Indiana.

Steve launched the CareSource Marketplace plan in 2014 and since has grown it to the largest Marketplace plan in the State of Indiana. In 2016, CareSource was selected to serve Hoosier Healthwise and Healthy Indiana Plan members. Under Steve’s leadership the health plan has launched a number of innovative programs including the CareSource Reentry Program™ to ensure the successful transition of justice-involved individuals back into communities, as well as initiatives to remove barriers to health care, housing, employment, and maternal and infant health and to improve health equity.

Steve spends a tremendous amount of time giving back to the community by volunteering at Gleaners Food Bank, Wheeler Mission, Shepard Community Center, The Villages, Chin Community Center and has served as a TuTutorMate tutor for IPS schools.  Steve also serves on the boards of The Villages, Covering Kids and Families of Indiana and Indiana Association Health Plans.

“I’m honored to be recognized alongside so many amazing fellow Hoosiers who are taking Indiana to the next level and improving the lives of people in our state,” said Smitherman.

Nominated by peers with final selections by IBJ Media editors and staff, Indiana 250 profiles top leaders across multiple industries.
