DAYTON, Ohio (CareSource) - Rainy, gray weather conditions did not put a damper on the third annual CareSource 5K and Fun Run which took place Saturday, April 5 along the Great Miami Valley River Trail in celebration of the organization’s commitment to health and wellness. What began in 2022 as a small wellness event has become a much-anticipated, yearly race for CareSource employees and their families.

“The race and Wellness Fair underscores our dedication to supporting CareSource employees and their families in prioritizing their health through one of our many wellness initiatives,” said Brian Apwisch, senior manager, LivingWell, CareSource. “The race has grown so much over the years, but what’s even more exciting is how much fun everyone has taking part. It’s fantastic to see the camaraderie among team members and seeing the smiles on the faces of the runners, volunteers and race organizers throughout the morning. Even in the rain!”

“I like saying the race is only half the fun, said Apwisch. “We would not be able to have so much success without the added benefit of having the Wellness Fair at the Pamela Morris Center on the same day.”

Vendor participants in this year’s Wellness Fair included representation from many local partners including the Greater Dayton YMCA, Delta Dental, Up and Running, Choice Juice Boxx, 4 Paws for Ability Inc., Allstate Insurance and many more.

CareSource Chief Financial Officer (and a competitive transcontinental marathon runner) Larry Smart served as the Executive Sponsor for the third year in a row. Larry also came away the overall winner of Saturday’s Fun Run, while Jordan LeBlanc was the winning female runner.

“While the weather conditions may have fluctuated from state to state, one thing was consistent and that was everyone had a great time taking part,” added Apwisch. “I really can’t wait to see our turnout next year.”
