ROME, GA – [Dec. 9, 2025] – Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center (Atrium Health Floyd) has been awarded $75,000 as part of the 2025 CareSource Foundation Grant Challenge. The funding will support Expanding Access, Elevating Health, a community-based model aimed at improving health outcomes through targeted interventions focused on addressing social drivers of health.

“Atrium Health Floyd remains committed to transforming care delivery through a community-based model that emphasizes accessibility and responsiveness,” said Kurt Stuenkel, president, Atrium Health Floyd. “By reimagining our outreach—especially in rural and underserved areas—we can ensure more families receive the essential care they need, when and where they need it. This grant from CareSource will help us expand these critical services, enabling us to make an even greater impact on the health and well-being of our community.”

CareSource is a nationally recognized nonprofit managed care organization serving more than 430,000 Georgians. This award is part of CareSource’s $300,000 investment in Georgia-based organizations addressing social drivers of health, strengthening maternal and integrated care and improving quality of life for people who are aged, blind or disabled.

Guided by a comprehensive community health needs assessment, the CareSource grant will enable Atrium Health Floyd to address key health priorities, including access to care and nutrition. The funding will support food security efforts through partnerships with rural farmers' markets, expanding access to fresh produce and nutritional resources for low-income families. It will also help sustain and grow school-based health programs that currently serve more than 24,000 students and 2,400 staff in Floyd, Rome City and Polk County schools.

Additional support will be provided to the Mobile Mammography Coaches, which offers mammograms and access to care for women who face economic challenges and may not otherwise seek preventive screenings.

“Atrium Health Floyd’s commitment to expanding access aligns closely with CareSource’s mission of whole-person care,” said Jason Bearden, president of CareSource Georgia. “Their work demonstrates how community partnerships can create lasting health improvements for individuals and families across Georgia.”

The CareSource Foundation Grant Challenge recognizes organizations that significantly impact community health and address health and social needs. Since 2006, the CareSource Foundation has awarded more than $35.5 million to nonprofits working to eliminate poverty, deliver essential services to low- and moderate-income families, promote healthy communities and develop innovative solutions for critical health issues to enhance the lives of children, adults and families.
