The nonprofit health plan provides members with additional benefits to incentivize complete vaccination

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. (June 1, 2021) – CareSource, a nationally recognized nonprofit health plan, has enhanced benefits offered to COVID-19 vaccinated members in the state of Indiana. Starting today, CareSource is offering $20 for Medicaid members once they achieve full vaccination for COVID-19 in the form of a single-dose vaccine or the second dose of the two-dose vaccine. This enhanced benefit has been added to encourage complete vaccinations, curb the recent decline in Indiana’s vaccination rates, and ultimately contribute to the goal of herd immunity across the state.

“We know that the COVID-19 pandemic has been devastating and achieving full vaccination is key to protecting our own health and the health of others,” said Steve Smitherman, CareSource Indiana president. “Our top priority is to promote the health and well-being of our members. Our hope is that with this new incentive, we are able to encourage our members to become fully vaccinated and recognize the importance of doing this to protect our fellow Hoosiers.”

The member reward is only the latest CareSource endeavor in their partnership with the state of Indiana to promote COVID-19 vaccination. CareSource has taken steps to educate members by contacting them directly once members are eligible to receive the vaccine and providing information on how to make an appointment. CareSource also offers members transportation to receive the vaccine if needed.

“We’ve seen a slight decrease in the average number of second dose vaccinations administered in the state, per the Indiana State Department of Health, with Hoosiers neglecting to complete their vaccination schedule and receive the second dose,” added Smitherman. “Our enhanced benefit has been added to incentive our members to complete the series and significantly impact Indiana’s public health.”

The reward will be automatically given to members on their OTC card once they achieve complete vaccination. The benefit is available now to all CareSource Medicaid members in Indiana ages 12 and up. When additional ages are eligible for vaccination, they will also become eligible for the reward. Members can reach out for information on this new benefit and rewards program by calling 1-844-607-2829 (TTY: 1-800-743-3333) Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET.
