NVPCA will utilize funds to support expanded services in rural Nevada

HENDERSON/CARSON CITY, Nev. (CareSource) – The CareSource Foundation, the philanthropic arm of CareSource, a nationally recognized nonprofit managed care organization, is donating $300,000 to the Nevada Primary Care Association (NVCPA) to support its rural providers in their work to improve health care access and outcomes for people living in rural Nevada.

“Nevada’s rural and frontier communities face unique health care challenges,” said Jayme Puu, chief executive officer of CareSource Nevada. “Our support of the Nevada Primary Care Association and their rural provider members will help support good health, including housing, access to food and nutrition and employment.”

The Nevada Primary Care Association is a nonprofit membership organization founded in 1995 serving Federally Qualified Health Centers, tribal health centers, other primary care clinics and community health providers throughout the Silver State. NVPCA supports collaboration and coordination among existing health centers and other community health providers to improve and expand access to comprehensive primary care services.

“Our goal at the NVPCA is to provide our members with current and accurate information necessary to serve Nevada’s population, including underserved and low-income residents,” said Nancy J. Bowen, chief executive officer of NVPCA. “We thank CareSource for recognizing the importance of investing in rural Nevada and for their support of our mission through this donation.”

“As a nonprofit, mission-driven managed care organization, we focus on community partnerships like this that empowers local providers to better care for their patients,” added Puu. “Rural counties make up 87% of Nevada’s land and yet the health care options for Nevadans who live there are limited. We’re dedicated to expanding and supporting rural communities through our work.”
