ATLANTA (December 19, 2022) – CareSource, a leading multi-state managed care plan, announced today a donation of $10,000 from the CareSource Foundation to the Georgia Council for Recovery (GC4R). GC4R’s Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialists (CARES) engage with expecting mothers at Northeast Georgia Medical Center hospitals who need peer support before giving birth. CARES also develop an appropriate, reliable and safe support system for parents and families who have an infant in the NICU.

“The Georgia Council for Recovery is honored to be chosen by CareSource to serve as their partner in Georgia. With this generous donation, CareSource is advancing peer led recovery across the state, helping and serving vulnerable populations suffering from substance use disorder,” said Neil Campbell, executive director, Georgia Council for Recovery. “The Georgia Council for Recovery is thankful to CareSource for leading with love in support of the Georgia Recovery Community.”

Funds provided by CareSource will be used to provide items to ensure successful outcomes for mothers and infants, including books, toys, car seats, cribs and transportation and sober living vouchers.

“We pride ourselves as being health care with heart, and the CareSource Foundation is one of many ways we champion our members and address the social determinants of health that often impact them,” said Jason Bearden, Georgia market president, CareSource. “GC4R cultivates community relationships that often play a vital role in in decreasing the stigma that prevents many individuals from seeking help before the negative impacts of a substance use disorder are realized. Utilizing GC4R’s support allows us the unique opportunity to meet these individuals’ needs and provide stability on their road to recovery.”

Since 2006, the CareSource Foundation has awarded more than $25 million to nonprofits that are working to eliminate poverty, provide much-needed services to low-and moderate-income families, encourage healthy communities, develop innovative approaches to address critical health issues and enhance the lives of a diverse array of children, adults and families.
