CareSource Impact Camp Brings Physical Activity and Mentorship to Atlanta-area Kids Through Sport

ATLANTA (May 19, 2026) — CareSource, a nonprofit, mission-driven managed care organization, recently hosted a CareSource Impact Camp at Tracey Wyatt Recreation Center in Atlanta. The basketball camp provided local children the opportunity to participate in youth sports at no cost, welcoming more than 100 students in grades 3-9 for an afternoon of physical activity and mentorship.
Physical activity plays a critical role in children’s health and development. However, less than one in five children in the U.S. gets the recommended daily physical activity. CareSource Impact Camps are designed to help close this gap by expanding access to youth sports for children who may face barriers due to cost or limited recreational opportunities.

“At CareSource, we recognize that health is shaped by more than clinical care alone, which is why we invest in youth sports initiatives as part of our commitment to addressing the whole health of our members,” said David Donohue, president, CareSource Georgia. “The CareSource Impact Camps create opportunities for youth to stay active and engage with their peers, supporting their social and physical well-being.”
Led by Taylen Kinney, Overtime Elite Star & 2026 McDonald’s All-American committed to the University of Kansas men’s basketball team, the camp taught participants basketball fundamentals while reinforcing teamwork and life skills in a safe environment.
“It was great to be here, have fun with the kids and see their excitement for the game,” said Kinney. “It is important for kids to stay active and build healthy habits, and sports like basketball are a great way to keep them moving while having fun.”
CareSource partners with local schools, community centers and nonprofit organizations to identify youth who are most likely to face barriers to participation in traditional sports programs. By focusing on these communities, CareSource is helping expand access to physical activity and create opportunities that support healthier outcomes for youth.
