CareSource Impact Camp for Special Olympics Athletes Highlights Health Beyond the Doctor’s Office

FAYETTEVILLE, AR. (Sept. 12, 2026) — Today, CareSource, a nonprofit, mission-driven managed care organization, hosted a CareSource Impact Camp for more than 50 Special Olympics Arkansas athletes. The CareSource Impact Camp provided attendees the opportunity to participate in basketball drills and skills led by the University of Arkansas men's basketball team at Bud Walton Arena.

Through the event, CareSource and Special Olympics Arkansas brought athletes together for a day of physical activity, skill-building and community connection. The camp reflected CareSource’s commitment to supporting health and well-being beyond traditional care settings.

“This camp really shows what whole-person health looks like in action,” said Eric Van Allen, president of CareSource’s Arkansas market. “Through our longstanding partnership with Special Olympics Arkansas, we’re proud to support experiences that help athletes build confidence, connection and a sense of belonging.”

For people with disabilities, physical activity can support daily living activities and independence. Yet, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, fewer than half of U.S. adults with disabilities meet recommended physical activity guidelines.
