Partnership Support Georgians by Securing Employment within 48 to 72 Hours

ATLANTA (January 17, 2023) –  CareSource, a mission-driven Medicaid plan serving more than 500,000 Georgians, has invested $40,000 into First Step Staffing, a nonprofit staffing agency that provides job placements within forty-eight to seventy-two hours, transportation to and from work, ongoing job coaching, and on-site job-management to Georgians facing barriers to entering the workforce.

“CareSource believes there are many factors that influence a person’s overall health, one of those being stable employment and steady income, making this partnership one that aligns with our mission of addressing more than just the physical health of a person,” said Jason Anavitarte, CareSource Georgia director of life services and health equity. “This dynamic partnership helps our members secure job opportunities and transportation to those jobs, allowing them to build a foundation for a healthy life.”

First Step Staffing’s goal is to provide economic opportunities to those experiencing a wide array of circumstances such as homelessness, previous incarceration, or poverty which have prevented them from securing employment. The program begins with an evaluation which assesses the individual’s skills and work history and identifies potential barriers to employment. Participants then meet with a job coach and are matched with an employer, where they are placed in a job that aligns with their skills and given transportation to and from the job. The First Step Staffing team works with other nonprofit organizations to connect the participants to support services and resources.

“Employment is the first step an individual can take towards becoming self-sufficient and experiencing a higher quality of life,” said Amelia Nickerson, CEO of First Step Staffing. “This is a key issue to address in our area, and we are thankful for our partnership with CareSource that allows us to positively impact more people in Georgia.”
