LANSING, Mich. (HAP CARESOURCE) — HAP CareSource has invested $35,000 to support the personal needs pantry at Catholic Charities of Ingham, Eaton and Clinton Counties (CCIEC), expanding access to critical hygiene and household supplies for families across the Lansing area. The pantry provides essential items to individuals and families who are struggling to afford daily necessities, offering immediate relief for those facing financial hardship.
In addition to the pantry sponsorship, a CareSource community health worker (CHW) will serve part-time at the CCIEC health clinic to assist patients in accessing state programs and resources. The partnership is part of HAP CareSource’s commitment to addressing the social and economic factors that influence health and well-being.
“At HAP CareSource, we believe health extends beyond the doctor’s office,” said Charles Tischer, director of community outreach at HAP CareSource—Michigan market. “Our support of Catholic Charities’ pantry and the placement of a community health worker reflects our continued focus on building stronger, healthier communities through collaboration.
The CHW will support enrollment in SNAP, WIC and other services, and provide health education. They will also help individuals navigate other life issues such as economic stability and access to health care.
“We are incredibly grateful to HAP CareSource for their commitment to Catholic Charities Ingham, Eaton and Clinton,” said Joe Garcia, CEO of Catholic Charities of Ingham, Eaton and Clinton Counties. “Their support for our personal need pantry and for placing a community health worker at our clinic is a tangible and powerful response to ensuring every child and family can thrive with dignity and hope.”
This collaboration reflects a growing focus on health equity and the role of community-based partnerships in driving long-term impact across mid-Michigan.
