With the stresses of today’s world, our mental health is as important as our physical health. For this reason, CareSource offers behavioral health as part of your core benefits. This means that counseling and addiction services are covered benefits by your CareSource health plan.

CareSource Covers Services to Help You With Mental Health or Addiction

Whether it’s depression, anxiety, alcohol or drug dependence, we provide treatment and counseling options to help you through difficult times in your life. We believe in recovery. We believe that treatment works. These are just a few of the services we provide to take care of you.

Services for You:

Addiction servicesTreatment options to help you with your dependence; prior authorization for inpatient services only.
Assessments & ScreeningsTools to help you and your doctors find areas you may need help with to improve your health and well-being; no prior authorization.
Partial HospitalizationA structured program of active psychiatric treatment provided as a hospital outpatient service or by a community mental health center, that is more intense than the care received in your doctor’s or therapist’s office and is an alternative to inpatient hospitalization. No prior authorization for the first 30 visits.
CounselingIndividual, family and group sessions to talk it out; no prior authorization.
DetoxificationTreatment to help with your dependence on alcohol/drugs; prior authorization for inpatient services only.
Opioid treatmentOpioid treatment, including Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT); specialized medications and therapy for maintenance and detoxification. Noprior authorization required for therapy. Prior authorization may be required for some MAT medications.
PsychiatryAdvanced therapy and medications to treat your condition (in medical office or home); no prior authorization for office visits.
Residential treatmentLive-in recovery treatment for mental illness or drug dependence; prior authorization required. Prior authorization required.

Are You Suffering from a Drug or Alcohol Problem? GET HELP NOW!

Call 1-833-674-6437 for help in finding a substance use specialist. You don’t need a doctor’s referral or prior approval for most outpatient treatment. CareSource wants to get you on the path to recovery.

Are You Feeling Depressed or Hopeless? 

If you want to see a mental health professional, you can go to any provider in our network. You don’t need a doctor’s referral or prior approval for most outpatient treatment. We can help you find a provider close to you. Call Member Services at 1-844-607-2827 (TTY: 1-800-750-0750 or 711).

Find a Provider

In our Find a Doctor/Provider tool you will find a variety of health professionals including marriage and family therapists, substance use counselors, social workers, community mental health centers and more. If you don’t see the help you need, call us at 1-833-674-6437.

If you have a Care Manager, give him or her a call. Your Care Manager can help you find the resources you need to be healthy. If you don’t have a Care Manager, do you want to request one? Talk with your doctor or call Member Services.

Not sure what to do? Call one of our qualified registered nurses at CareSource24® at 1-866-206-0569. If you feel you are in a crisis or emergency situation, call 911.

Out-of-network/non-contracted providers are under no obligation to treat CareSource members, except in emergency situations. Please call our customer service number or see your Evidence of Coverage for more information, including the cost- sharing that applies to out-of-network services.
